ESPROS Photonics is an innovative high-tech company with over 50 outstanding employees worldwide. We develop, produce and sell leading-edge opto-electronic micro-sensors for industrial applications. These micro-sensors, produced using the most advanced process technology, set new standards for opto-electronics devices. We have a series of new, innovative products in the development pipeline, which need to be made production-ready as soon as possible. These will be produced in high volume following the ramp-up.
You will be responsible for the design of our electronic hardware within the overall product development process. You will develop the necessary hard- and software to enable our micro-sensors to be characterized, tested and qualified. You will work in close cooperation with our Chip Design and Test Engineering departments.
We are looking for a goal-orientated, communicative individual who possesses a real ‘Can-Do’ spirit and can work independently. You enjoy working in a multi-discipline team, resolving tricky opto-electronic testing problems and are eager to excel in your work. Previous experience in the area of characterization of semiconductor circuits or opto-electronic sensors would be an advantage. If this area of expertise is new to you, you nevertheless possess both the ability and determination to quickly get to grips with interesting yet often complex tasks. You are fluent in both German and English, spoken and written.

In this interactive position your primary focus will be on optics, electronics, software, semiconductor physics, manufacturing processes and product applications. You will also be responsible for the following:

Proactive technical analysis of patent rights for current and future products and projects

Research and evaluation of competitors’ trademarks & patents

Monitoring of patent status regarding competitors, customers and suppliers

Research and evaluation of potential means of circumvention

Research and evaluation of current technology

Securing company’s own IP rights
-
Collaboration in development of IP strategy

Coaching and coordination of IP issues

Support in drawing up of Invention Disclosures
-
Assisting with Product Platform Technology Roadmapping

Administration and optimization of licenses and trademark rights
-
Cooperating with R&D management and other departments
Your responsibilities also involve both processing and resolving patenting and licensing
disputes.
We are looking for an individual with a science or engineering degree in addition to qualifications in the area of patent rights. In-depth industry experience in development processes and patents as well as qualifications in innovation management and/or intellectual property management, would be advantageous.
Due to the multifaceted requirements of this position, not only should you possess technical, scientific and legal know-how, but also innovative thinking and a team spirit, together with a well-honed ability to assess and research. You need to be communicative and well capable of putting your case. The ability to work independently alongside fluency in both German and English, are also prerequisites. Fluency in other languages would be advantageous but is not essential.

We have a series of new, innovative products in the development pipeline, which need to be made production-ready as soon as possible. These will be produced in large numbers following the ramp-up. As Head of Test Engineering, you will assume a key role within the product-development process as the interface between our Chip Design and Production units.
You will establish a team of test engineers and lead them towards clearly defined goals. With this team, you will develop the hardware and software required to test and qualify integrated semiconductor circuits, both at wafer level and as a package. You will work in close cooperation with Chip Design to coordinate all activities, from the initiation of a new product through to the handover to Production. In addition to leading all test-engineering projects, you will also develop hardware/software for functional and parametric tests as well as the qualification of our products. As you will be involved in our development projects at an early stage, you will play a decisive role in designing test concepts. Consequently, you will assume responsibility for ensuring the newly developed products can be tested both efficiently and
cost-effectively.
